Grampians Camps for students at St Joseph's, commenced in 1986 and they are still running today in 2020!

The inspiration for these camps came from my own experience at Deakin University, when I participated in a similar camp during my teacher training. Lecturer, Lindsay Fitzclarence, was responsible for this teacher training opportunity in the Grampians, and when we started our own camps, Lindsay attended our first camp and assisted in the planning.

Now, some 35 years later, Lindsay is doing a study on the impact of recreational experiences on young people. I recently met up with him and I shared the evolution of our Grampians’ camp from its embryonic stage when he was first involved, to the time up to where we were taking 200+ students in 12 separate groups, accompanied by 28 staff over a 7 day period.

Lindsay is interested in finding out and hearing about stories of how this camp may have influenced some of the 4000+ students who have been part of it over this 35-year period.

If you have the time, could you please respond to the attached survey of six questions.
