The Parents and Friends is a large group of parents and carers of current and past students, providing social activities as well as being a huge support for major fundraising events and College functions.
St Joseph’s has a great history of parental involvement. The fundraising associated with some events and the funds saved through voluntary work, are essential to the running of the College and supporting the College Community.
Some key events that the Parents & Friends were integral in hosting in the past were the annual Fashion Dinner, Trivia night, Comedy Night and catering for the Old Collegian's Reunion. Attend as a guest or invite some friends or make some new friends by volunterring as an event helper and find out what happens behind the scenes here at SJC! All family members are welcome, it's not just the students that can have fun and make friends at St Joseph's.
Parents & Friends events are always advertised on the College Website and Social Media Platforms.
The money raised from P&F events is put back into our college community, examples below of fundraising achievements in one year alone:
• $25,000 Donation to the community of Mannya, Uganda from the Fashion dinner
• $8000 donated to the SJC Bursary Fund
• $600 donated to train our staff in Mental Health First Aid, which enabled them to train our Year 9 students as Mental Health First Aiders.
• $4000 donated to support the cost of The Men's Shed to come into school to educate the Year 10 students.
As parents and carers, you are automatically part of the SJC P&F Community. Meetings are held once a month and are attended by either the Principal or Deputies who present the school report regarding new initiatives and programs. We invite you to come along to a meeting to find out more.
Meetings start at 7:00pm and are held in the College Staffroom with refreshments and snacks provided. All Parents and Friends of the College Community are welcome.
