It was an eventful week for St Joseph's football and soccer teams, with exhilarating victories, tough challenges, and standout performances on the field.

The 1st XVIII Football team put on a remarkable performance, securing a spirited 34-point runaway victory against long-time rival Whitefriars at Queens Park. Despite facing a strong wind in the first quarter and being 19 points down at quarter time, the boys turned the game around from then on. They fought hard and managed to take a 13-point lead by three-quarter time after a Jesse Mellor goal after the siren. The victory was sealed later in the last quarter with a superb goal by Ethan Borys sending the crowd into ruptures. Standout players in the game included Ethan Borys, Lachlan Jaques, Nicholas Dowling, and Sol Bowtell.

It was a challenging day for the 1st XI Soccer team as they faced Salesian College in Chadstone. They conceded six second-half goals, resulting in a disappointing 9-nil loss. Despite the tough outcome, players such as Seth Sutherland, Jack McTaggart, Jacob Owen, and Alex Mrak put in a valiant effort during the match.

The Year 10 Football team displayed their dominance with a commanding win over St Bernard's. They ran out as 116-point victors, even though the last quarter was cut short, lasting only 10 minutes. The team showcased their strength and depth with 14 individual goal kickers contributing to the win. Lenny Allen, Thomas Handley, Wichay Paul, and Tyson Roberts continued their impressive form throughout the season.

A goal fest unfolded on Carey Oval as the Year 10 Soccer team engaged in an exciting match. They secured a thrilling 7-5 victory, with both teams displaying excellent attacking prowess. Patrick Wall stood out with a hat-trick, while Gianluca Sozzi scored two goals. Lachy Whitelaw and Alex Giorgio also made valuable contributions to the scoreboard. Notable performances from Paddy Heffernan, Tobias Servin, and Luke Sikita ensured a well-deserved win.

The Year 9 Red Football team started their game against St Bernard's College with a bang, scoring four unanswered goals in the first quarter. They maintained their dominance throughout the match, ultimately winning by 58-points. William Hibble played a starring role with three goals, while Darcy Harrington, Jack Pickett, Charlie Gray, and Tom Teague were recognized as the standout players on the day.

In a closely contested game, the Year 9 Yellow Football team experienced a narrow 4-point loss to St Bernard's. Despite this, the team showcased great potential with eight players representing the College for the first time. Tom Clark's outstanding performance which included three goals, earned him the best on-ground recognition. George O'Dwyer, Jack Kelly, Lenny Honner, and Rupert Flanders also displayed impressive skills during the game.

The Year 9 Soccer team faced a challenging opponent in the Manchester City aligned Parade College in Bundoora. Although they suffered a 6-0 loss, our players showed resilience and fought hard until the final whistle. Jake Bailey, Karl Leban, and Mason Jager were acknowledged as the team's best players, despite the result.

Overall, it was an action-packed week for St Joseph's in the ACC sports competition. Our teams demonstrated determination, skill, and sportsmanship in their respective matches. Apart from the 1st XI Soccer, next week is the last home and away fixture for each team as they hope to secure a finals birth.
