PLEASING START

We have been really pleased with the way our students have commenced the start of the 2022 academic school year. There has been a sense of calm in the classrooms and out in the yard and we feel students appreciate being back. All students have been reacquainted with their sub school norms (links are below) which requires students to work with their teachers to build healthy work habits and respectful relationships with staff and peers. We have also been really impressed with the way our Year 7s have settled in.

UNIFORM, GROOMING and MASKS

Whilst I am generally pleased with how the students are presenting I feel our standards can improve. The students are to carry a parent note if they are not in their correct uniform. There are a few senior students who need to shave more often and sometimes use the mask as an excuse to hide their facial hair. We have razors at the school in our sickbay but the majority much prefer to use their own razors. We would appreciate the support from home in ensuring the students are clean-shaven and in correct uniform before they leave home. Also, can we ensure all students bring a spare mask with them each day and avoid requesting a new one from reception.

PARENT INFORMATION EVENINGS

Our New Families, Westcourt and Mt Sion Information evenings cannot take place at school this year but all families have and will be shared pre-recorded online links that introduce key personnel and information with you. I encourage all families to devote some time to viewing these recordings as we are keen to share as much information with our families to build on our healthy partnership.

GUEST SPEAKER YEAR 10 and YEAR 11 – DANIEL MERZA

On Wednesday our Year 10s and 11s were each greeted with an hour presentation from Daniel Merza. Daniel is an award-winning international speaker, a certified virtual trainer and author, specialising in wellbeing and leadership. Our Year 10 and 11 students have missed many opportunities in the last two years to hear from guest speakers or experience camps or renewals that provide meaning and motivation. The students responded well to these sessions and connected with Daniel’s messages. Feel free to ask your Year 10 or 11 child about Daniel and what they got out of it.
