ST JOSEPH’S COLLEGE GEELONG FOUNDATION INC. (Est. 1995)
St Joseph’s College, Geelong, has grown, over the past 70 years, into one of Victoria’s significant Catholic boys’ Colleges. In the process, generations of young men have achieved personal success within a Christian culture.
Most of the College’s facilities have been made possible through the outstanding generosity of past generations, a combination of Catholic families and the dedication of the Christian Brothers. The need today is equally as great.
Some time ago, the College Board and Administration realised that for the College to continue to provide affordable education into the future, the College Community will be required to make a continuing investment.
The establishment of the St Joseph’s College Geelong Foundation provides the structure for the organisation and administration of the continuing investment raising, fund placement, growth and expenditure programs.

2009 Report
The Committee of the Foundation of St. Joseph’s College is pleased to report that, despite the recession, our tasks over the past twelve months have been completed successfully. In the continuance of our efforts we believe that St. Joseph’s delivers excellent quality of education for young men and, as always, we maintain our intention to continue raising funds for whatever needs the College may have in the future.
St. Joseph’s commenced operation in Geelong in 1935 with an enrolment of 128 students - and since then has widely extended its landholding and broadened its student enrolment to more that 1,400. Its staff list is more than 160 people. The education and training service which the College offers its students gives them the potential to achieve high standing in business, medicine, sport, the military and the arts. The Foundation expresses its pride in the development and the achievements of graduates of St. Joseph’s.
This report, the 15th for the Foundation, demonstrates that we shall continue to work to raise necessary funding for future developments of St. Joseph’s College. We have managed to raise $199,398 in 2008 which has brought us to a total of $1.7 million since our commencement in 1995.
We take this opportunity to salute our inaugural Development Manager, John Fitzgerald, and we congratulate him and thank him – and we wish him the best possible fortune in his future. And we are delighted to welcome David Formosa into that position – he has a superb understanding of this job and he demonstrates a positive attitude toward its high achievements and expectations.
I offer my thanks and appreciation to Todd Devine who has announced that he is stepping down from his position on the Foundation Committee. Todd has provided the Foundation with a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm towards our cause, in particular his work on the Myers Street property and the First Stage of the Capital Appeal. We wish Todd all the best with Kids Plus who no doubt recognise what a talented individual he is.
To Vice-chair Peter Rudd and other committee members Chris Holien, Rob Threlfall, Jerry Raveane and Joe Virgona I thank them for their continued support and donation of time it is a pleasure to work with such enthusiasm for a worthy cause. The committee is grateful for the assistance it has received from Jane Littore and Sue Maxwell.
