Travel Information
Travel on public transport or contract bus is available for St Joseph’s students from most Geelong suburbs and surrounding districts. The cost of transport and eligibility for conveyance allowance are governed by the student’s place of residence
A copy of the Student Travel Information Sheet can be downloaded below:
Conveyance Allowance
A Conveyance Allowance may be available to St Joseph’s College students who live outside a radius of 4.8 km from the school. Forms for Conveyance Allowance (yellow form) are available from the College’s Accounts Office. The Conveyance Allowance is forwarded to the College from the Department of Education at the end of each term and is credited to the fee account.
The use of the most economical mode of transport between home and school governs the value of the conveyance allowance. That is the cost of an annual student concession and bus pass. Student concession forms are available from mid-January each year from V/Line or the College.
Coastal Travellers
Students travelling from coastal areas of Bellarine Peninsula and Surf Coast are fully subsidised but are required to have a Conveyance Allowance form completed to acquire a bus pass from the bus company.

All bus travellers are to behave in a responsible manner at all times while travelling to and from school. Appropriate College uniform is to be worn. The travelling public and fellow students are to be treated with respect. Failure to meet these expectations may result in the loss of the right to travel on the bus and / or some other appropriate disciplinary action. Students are to follow directions given by staff supervising the bus set-down.

Students who ride bicycles to school must use the bike racks near the VCE building and are required to provide their own lock. As required by law, all bike riders must wear an approved Safety Helmet.

Eligibility For Bus Travel – Registered Schools
Students travelling from specific areas outside the Geelong urban area are eligible for school bus travel (if available), or payment of a conveyance allowance, only if they are enrolled at their closest denominational school.
Catholic Secondary Colleges
Parents enrolling students at Catholic Secondary Schools should note that bus travel or conveyance allowances would only apply in the following situations:-
- Students travelling from districts north or north-west of Geelong e.g. Anakie, Bannockburn, Lara, Meredith Little River, Wingeel, Inverleigh to :
St Joseph’s College or Clonard College
- Students travelling from districts south, south-west e.g. Bellarine Peninsula, Winchelsea, Anglesea, Barwon Heads, Torquay, Gnarwarre, Ceres to:

In all above cases, to be eligible for free bus travel or conveyance allowance, students must reside more than 4.8 km by the shortest practicable route and be attending the nearest appropriate denominational school.
Where a school contract bus service is provided, students travelling to schools other than those listed above may be able to travel as fare paying passengers. Travel as a paying passenger will only be permitted on a term by term basis and where space is available on the bus. A number of other conditions for fare paying travel will also apply and be subject to agreement.
